In the past months, members of IPOB have made it clear that the only interest of the group is to get independence from Nigeria and have a separate nation called Biafra nation.

There have been rumors that the IPOB is behind the attack on the INEC facility and many other government facilities in the southeast region to stop any form of political activity in the region. The IPOB has been accused of committing many atrocious in the region all in the name of pushing for the Biafra nation.

Despite the continuous attempt of Nigerian security operatives to bring IPOB members to book since the proscription of the group in 2017 by the attorney general of Nigeria, the IPOB has continued to insist that its members have no hand in the illegal activities in the southeast region.

Meanwhile, IPOB had also in the past months, threatened the Nigerian government against any harm that might befall the leader of the group in person of Nnamdi Kanu.

Ahead of the presidential election, IPOB has reacted to claims that election would not take part in the southeast region in 2023. In a fresh statement released by the spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful revealed that IPOB is not against any election in the southeast.

According to a report from Daily Post, IPOB released a statement through the spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful regarding the forthcoming presidential election scheduled to take place in February 2023.
