Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to license governors to acquire weapons to fight bandits, terrorists and gunmen.
It hailed the president on release of all passengers in the Kaduna train attack.
OPC President, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi (“Askari”), in a statement signed by General Secretary, Bunmi Fasehun, called on Federal Government to expedite action to free other abductees still in captivity.
Afolabi said: “We congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and his security team for ensuring a happy ending to this Kaduna train kidnapping story…
‘’However, the government must secure release of others in captivity, using the template that worked in the kidnapped Abuja-Kaduna passengers.
“It is clear the police, army and security forces are overwhelmed… President Buhari must heed the call of governors and allow them to acquire armouries to confront the danger…”
